It seems the job description of a worship pastor or minister of music these days has expanded to include leadership in media ministry as well –and rightfully so. Many churches don’t have the luxury of a staff member with a specialized degree, but the utilization and centralization of media in worship services seems to increase with time. Social media, video screens, audio production, video shoots … the list goes on and on.
Media is a powerful tool for communication and presentation, but it takes continual learning to keep up with it all – oh, and not to mention staying fresh on the music side of your responsibilities. But with the hardship of learning media, also comes the ability to access resources like never before online.
The following list includes resources I’ve found very helpful personally, but also in the ministries of many as I’ve visited churches across the state of Georgia:
1.Social Media – www.sethmuse.com/dare, www.prochurchtools.libsyn.com, www.theseminaryofhardknocks.podbeam.com
2.Audio/Video – www.worshipsoundguy.com, www.firstinlastout.us, www.theworshipinitiative.com, www.sweetwater.com/insync/topic/worship
3.Worship & Music – www.theworshipinitiative.com, www.worshiponline.com, www.lifewayworship.com, www.doxologyandtheology.com
4.Leadership and Church Culture – www.qpodcast.libsyn.com, www.thomranier.com, www.feeds.thevillagechurch.net/culture-matters
Beyond these are many more specific training needs that I know churches face all of the time. Please know of my desire to be a resource for you and your team. If your needs go beyond my scope of ability, I would be glad to try help you find the best resource that is available. Contact me at nduke@gabaptist.org.
